Learn Japanese with Anime

Focusing on different aspects of Japanese culture, from Onsen culture to Japanese food, and more, learn Japanese with our Anime characters learning useful phrases specific to each topic.  By the end of each mini-course, you will be ready to use what you learned when you take part in those activities in Japan.

Each mini-course is broken down by topic with multiple days of lessons for each subject matter using real-life situation examples to improve conversational skills, including pronunciation practice, followed along with practice videos and conversation practice.  

Each day, our Anime characters will help you deepen your understanding of the cultural subject matter and teach you 10 new words related to the topic. You will practice vocabulary with video and audio lessons, and test your knowledge with two quizzes at the end of each day to help lock in what you have learned.

Learn Japanese with Anime - All About Onsen

In our first mini-course Manekichan and Usakichi will teach you all about the do’s and don’ts of Japanese hot springs, and teach you the most common and helpful vocabulary that you should learn before entering a Japanese Onsen.

  • Who created the Learn Japanese through Anime series?

    It was created by Go! Go! Nihon in partnership with JLP, a Japanese online language school. JLP is part of Tokyo Seiyu Academy, a preeminent vocational college that focuses on voice acting. For this course JLP professional teachers and Anime creators realized these special Anime characters, that will take you into this journey through Japanese culture.

  • Why Anime so popular in Japan?

    Anime (アニメ) is a word derived from “animation” and is used by Japanese people to refer to any animated drawings. In Japan voice actors or seiyū, are just as popular and famous as normal actors, since they bring animated characters to life through their voices.

  • Can anyone take this course?

    Yes, this course is open to anyone interested in learning basic Japanese and Anime culture, no previous knowledge of Japanese language is needed!

  • How do the online classes work?

    The lessons are provided in a video on demand (VOD) style. You can watch them whenever and wherever you want. Each mini-course offers daily lessons around one topic. Each day has one main video about Japanese culture, one vocabulary video with new vocabulary words every day, pronunciation and content analysis, grammar tips, and quizzes to test your knowledge at the end of each day.

  • Are there live classes?

    As this course is taught through Anime characters, our lessons are pre-recorded to allow you to complete lessons at a time that suits you best but you will be able to interact with our staff and other students through the course's student community.

  • Will there be other mini courses?
